Love Stripes

Image

I love stripes. Hence it is of no surprise that when I found Jack Wills in Hong Kong, I went mad in their store. Buying everything from striped casual wear (above), Hoodies to luggage tags and rugs. Back at University, Jackwills was my absolute favorite for casual wear and  lounge wear. I own several season’s worth of their striped shirts and even wore them to work. I never stopped buying Jack Wills after I left University. In fact I was more fanatic about it as I had to painfully curb my Jack Wills expenditure while I was a student. Thus I have derived from Jack Wills a good business strategy – get them when they are young and grow the brand with your customers.

I love that they have kept to what they do best – sweatpants, hoodies, university style casual wear, but have also expanded into the realm of homewares and accessories, the latter probably the result of the private equity injection.

All the best to Jack Wills in Hong Kong!

Aman Chic – Amanusa

What exactly is it with the Aman hotels that makes one drool with wanting and delight? Once you’ve been introduced as an Aman disciple, there is no turning back. Everywhere you go, you will look for their trademark zen resorts, infused with nature and local culture. It’s not just that they convert summer residences belonging to emperors and kings, or that Angelina Jolie books whole resorts at a time for her kids and household. It’s something to do with the religious peace possessed by their staff, as if there is nowhere else they would rather be. The way the manager is so eager to greet you and the passion with which he talks about the concepts and the architect behind the property. It’s almost a cult that is deliciously perfect and impossible to get out of. The way they seamlessly help you to make the most of the natural surroundings – bikes come with iced water, car rides come with jazz and home made cookies, hikes are accompanied by a local guide and cold towels. They can arrange anything you fancy with no fuss. And then, after all that pampering, there is the simple granduer of the architecture which never ceases to amaze you.

At the risk of sounding like an Aman saleswoman, I do urge you to explore the Aman Resorts: http://www.amanresorts.com/

New Year’s Resolutions

My new years resolutions are:

1) Spend more time on things I love (fashion, tennis, Kate Moss, visiting Aman hotels, writing this and that, photographing interesting things), and less on things I don’t.

2) Chase out the fear.

3) Always have va va voom hair and nice lingerie.
